Email Signature Help for Gmail & G Suite

Day-to-day running the Stuart St James real estate brokerage, our real estate agents use G Suite (formerly Google Apps for Work), cloud based web productivity software. G Suite includes Gmail, among other offerings, an email program that is accessible anywhere there’s an Internet connection.

We chose G Suite because it’s a robust and flexible platform to run on, and provides slick integration with such things as Google Voice.

As new real estate agents join Stuart St James, invariably one of the first things we setup is a stuartstjames.com email address. From there, agents are ready to interface with clients and the leadership team using an officially branded email address. One thing we can’t forget about though is setting up an email signature for the account.

An email signature is a block of text that is appended to the bottom of every email written and contains contact information like name, phone, and links to real estate brokerage social media profiles like ours on LinkedIn.

How to Setup an Email Signature in Gmail

To setup your email signature when using Gmail, follow these steps:

  • Click the gear icon

near the upper right, then click Settings.

  • Scroll down near the bottom of the page and look for the Signature option and enter your desired email signature text.
  • Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Visit Google’s official email signature help page for more information if necessary.

Gmail Signature When Using Reply

You’ll notice that after setting up an email signature, when you compose a new message, your signature will be immediately at the bottom of your email, however, when replying to an already existing message, your email signature will be appended to the very end of the email thread rather than being placed above the email you are replying to. To move your email signature above the quoted text to which you are replying, follow these steps:

  • Click the gear icon

near the upper right, then click Settings.

  • Look for Signature tweaks and select the enable radio button.
  • Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Following these steps get our Massachusetts real estate agents up and running quickly and easily in fully utilizing branding in their email signature.
