My “customer” is a licensed real estate agent like you, and my focus is providing massive value to entrepreneurial Massachusetts real estate agents.
Stuart St James History
Ever since 2005, when I first became professionally licensed to practice real estate, I pursued it unconventionally. While I spent time at Coldwell Banker and Keller Williams as a broker associate and real estate salesperson respectively, “traditional” brokerage models and their approach to the practice of real estate never really sat well with me.
Despite disagreeing with the status quo, oftentimes being perplexed by the low bar of excellence in the real estate industry that is shockingly overcompensated, clearly, the “traditional” or “classic” residential real estate brokerage model works for many.
That said, I cannot practice real estate in that context.
In 2010, after hanging my license with several “independent” brokers who allowed me the freedom to build my brand and practice largely as I desired, I pursued a broker’s license and had the chance to launch Stuart St James shortly thereafter.
Over the years, the brokerage has evolved to serve two main constituency groups:
- Entrepreneurial Massachusetts Real Estate Agents – agents who join Stuart St James oftentimes are operating outside the status quo swim lane, they don’t want their time wasted, and they want to be compensated fairly for the work they do, I’d even go so far as to say aggressively compensated.
- For Sale by Owner (FSBO) Sellers – largely focused on offering real value and no fluff to for sale by owners (FSBO), a group despised, looked down upon at best, by the “traditional” model, and served so poorly it’s laughable.
Where Are We, and the Industry, Headed?
It’s my belief that if I focus the efforts of the brokerage on serving these two groups well, I’ll create unique value. Couple that with what I predict will be an acceleration in the breaking down of the current status quo of how real estate brokerages and agents are allowed to conduct themselves in the industry, and you’ve got an opportunity to be part of and aligned with positive change, which is always exciting to fore-run.
